What is a military and veteran caregiver? What do they look like? Military and veteran caregivers are anyone who is caring for the needs of their Wounded Warrior. These caregivers are wives, husbands, parents, friends, or even children. Unlike most health care providers the duty of taking care of their Veteran does not end when the work day is complete. Caring for a Wounded Warrior is a day-in and day-out activity.
On September 27th, 2016, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation officially announced its launch of Hidden Heroes. Tom Hanks, the national chair of Hidden Heroes opened the national campaign which is meant to bring awareness to the needs of military and veteran caregivers and help garner much needed support for the 5.5 million military and veteran caregivers in our nation.
